A private macOS utility
TagVault protects macOS Finder tag names before a Mac migration, cloud transfer, filesystem change, or folder recovery. Create a portable backup, preview every proposed change, and restore locally without touching file contents.

Three careful steps
TagVault scans the folder you select and finds tagged files and subfolders.
The portable .tagvault file records relative paths, tag names, and lightweight matching metadata-not file contents.
Choose a destination, review the changes, then add missing tags or exactly restore the saved set.
Protect macOS metadata
Finder tags are macOS metadata, not part of a document’s visible contents. Some cloud storage services, network volumes, archive formats, non-Apple filesystems, migration tools, and restore workflows may not preserve them. A folder can arrive with every file intact while the labels used to organize it are missing.
TagVault records Finder tag names against relative paths before you move or archive a folder. Later, point the backup at the original, recovered, or migrated folder and review what would change before restoring tags.
Made for real Mac workflows
Preserve Finder tag names before moving a project archive or documents folder to another Mac.
Keep a separate metadata record when copying folders through services or filesystems that may drop Finder tags.
Reapply organizational tags after restoring files from a backup that retained contents but not all macOS metadata.
Built around your files
Private Finder tag management
TagVault is a native, offline macOS utility with no account, analytics, advertising, tracking, or network service. It reads only folders and backup files you explicitly choose through standard Mac file panels.
