TagVault Privacy Policy

Last updated August 17, 2026

The short version

TagVault does not collect or transmit personal data. Folder scanning, backup creation, and tag restoration happen locally on your Mac.

TagVault is a local-only Finder tag backup and restore utility for macOS, published by Radiant Bear Games. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app on Mac.

Data collected by the app

TagVault does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. It contains no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking technologies, or online services.

Files and folders you choose

TagVault uses standard macOS file panels to access only folders and backup files you explicitly select. During backup, it reads Finder tag names, relative paths, file type, size, and creation and modification dates. This processing happens on your Mac. TagVault does not read or copy file contents.

During restore, TagVault reads the chosen .tagvault file and destination folder, previews proposed changes, and changes Finder tags only after you confirm.

Data stored on your Mac

Backup files are saved where you choose. They contain relative file and folder paths, Finder tag names, and lightweight matching metadata, which may reveal filenames. Backup history and settings are stored in TagVault’s private local app container. Radiant Bear Games cannot access this information.

You can remove an entry from Backup History inside TagVault without deleting its backup file. You can delete backup files in Finder. Uninstalling the app removes its private local container, subject to backups independently managed through Apple.

Third parties

TagVault does not send data to Radiant Bear Games or third parties. Apple independently processes Mac App Store downloads, payments, diagnostics, and related platform data under the Apple Privacy Policy; that processing is not performed by TagVault.

Children’s privacy

Because TagVault does not collect personal data, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version adds data collection or an online service, this policy and the Mac App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that version is released.
