Effective

The short version

NovelStage does not collect any data. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the app works offline. Your projects, photos, scripts and models stay on your Mac, and the camera picture is never saved or sent. Purchases are handled by Apple.

Who we are

NovelStage is made by Arnold Sallay, who publishes apps as Radiant Bear Games. Arnold Sallay is the data controller for this app, as far as one is needed, since the app collects no personal data. This policy covers the NovelStage app for Mac. For questions, email [email protected].

Data the app collects

None. NovelStage does not send your data to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see what you make with it. The app has no account or sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking code. It does not sell or share data, because it has none to sell or share.

Your projects and files

Projects, with their characters, scenes, storyboards and rendered pictures, are saved in folders you choose. Some things you make for use across projects, such as your saved poses, imported base body packs and imported 3D models, are kept in NovelStage's own folder on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.

When you open a file, macOS shows a standard file window, and NovelStage can only read the file you pick. This includes:

  • Photos you choose for Pose from a Photo
  • Ren'Py scripts (.rpy files) you open in the Story panel. NovelStage keeps a copy in your project and never changes the original.
  • Pictures you choose to show on a TV, laptop or phone screen in a scene. NovelStage keeps a copy in your project.
  • 3D models (.glb and .gltf) you import
  • Base body packs (.novelstagepack) you import

These files stay on your Mac. They may be included in backups you make, such as Time Machine or iCloud Drive if your project folder is there. Those backups are under your control.

Processing on your Mac

Everything NovelStage does runs on your Mac, including building characters, posing and rendering. Pose from a Photo uses Apple's Vision framework, which runs on the device. The photo is read on your Mac to find the person's pose, and it never leaves your Mac. Neither we nor Apple receive it through NovelStage.

Camera

Mirror My Face lets a character copy your face. It asks for camera access the first time you use it, and you can turn that off at any time in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Camera. The camera is on only while the Mirror My Face window is open. Each camera picture is read on your Mac to find the shape of your face, using a face tracking model that comes with the app, and is then thrown away. NovelStage never saves, records or sends the camera picture. When you choose Capture, only the character's expression is saved in your scene.

Network connections

NovelStage does not need the internet to work. It connects only when you use App Store features: buying NovelStage Pro, starting a free trial, or restoring a purchase. The app's 3D content is installed by the App Store with the app; if it is missing or damaged, NovelStage asks the App Store to download it again from Apple. Links in the app, such as this policy, open in your web browser.

With NovelStage Pro you can turn on the MCP server, so AI apps on your Mac, such as Claude or Cursor, can work NovelStage. It listens only on your own Mac (127.0.0.1) and refuses connections from other computers and from web pages. What an AI app asks for and what NovelStage answers goes only between the two apps on your Mac; where the AI app sends it is up to that app and its own privacy policy. Pictures rendered for an AI app are also copied to Pictures > NovelStage, so the AI app can open them. The server is off until you turn it on.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the Forever purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes your Apple Account and payment details under the Apple Privacy Policy. NovelStage only learns whether Pro is unlocked on your Mac, and keeps that on your Mac. We do not receive your name, email address, card details or Apple Account password.

Emailing support

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any files you attach, and we use them only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list. If you ask to be told when NovelStage is released, we use your address only for that, as described in Launch Email Privacy. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.

Deleting your data

Since the app collects nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. To remove your work, delete your project folders in Finder. Saved poses and base body packs can be deleted in the app. Copies in backups or other places must be deleted there.

Children

NovelStage is a creative tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The characters you can make are adults, aged 18 to 80.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct or delete it, to object to its use, and to not have it sold or shared. NovelStage does not collect, sell or share personal data, so there is nothing held by the app to request. For any data in emails you have sent us, contact us and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

This website

This policy is about the app. The radiantbeargames.com website offers optional Google Analytics cookies only after a visitor accepts them. Website analytics do not change what the app collects. See the website privacy and cookie policy, or use Cookie settings on the website to change your choice.

Changes

If a future version of NovelStage changes how data is handled, this page and the App Store privacy details will be updated before that version is released. The effective date at the top shows the latest change.
